The TANKERS take the EXPANSION WORKS from solid mass to void. Fabricated from thin Corten steel sheet, the sculptures enclose highly charged, hermetically-sealed spaces. These dark, brooding works enlarge cubic life-size body spaces into greater volumes, by applying the same principle as the cubic EXPANSION WORKS: the metric expansion of the universe. This enlargement is usually used to describe the expansion of cosmic measures of time and space, where the scale of space is itself changed. In the TANKERS, this principle is applied to the intimate space of the singular human body.
