The Model Room by Antony Gormley comprises of working models and drawings which reflect the artist’s radical approach to ‘the body as place’. Gormley is interested in exploring the relationship of the human body to space by replacing anatomy with architecture. Among the materials used are wood, plastic, foam, metal, wire, wax and plaster. Some of the models have gone on to form the basis of finished works. Gormley has described the tables as ‘raised beds showing different ways of growing things… There is no end to the possibilities.’
