, I am using the three Cartesian coordinates usually applied to create the external built environment to map the interior space of the body. I was very influenced by the beam construction of Japanese temples, particularly the roofs and the platform of Kiyomisu-dera in Kyoto.

Rather than working with volumes that fit within the different parts of the body’s mass, with the 

 the whole form is made up of interlocking beams that run in all three axes and touch the surface of the volume at both ends.

These works are an evolution of the early 

. They describe the body in terms of the tectonics of post and lintel architecture, and attempt to translate body mass into the equivalent of a high-rise tower.

 are outward-looking – they have a clockwork twist with the head turned 90 degrees from the feet. The challenge going forward will be thinking about how to use the maximum difference of the beam section with the minimum number of elements to evoke this observing body.
