Antony Gormley in conversation with Daniel F. Herrmann
Antony Gormley will be in conversation with Daniel F. Herrmann, the National Gallery’s Ardalan Curator of Modern and Contemporary Projects, to mark the publication of ‘Drawing: Antony Gormley’.
Spanning over four decades of work, ‘Drawing: Antony Gormley’ offers the first comprehensive survey of the artist’s drawing practice. Bringing together more than 400 works, the book traces Gormley’s deep engagement with drawing as a fundamental mode of inquiry - one that moves between thought, sensation and the physical experience of mark-making.
This event offers a rare opportunity to hear Gormley reflect on the role drawing plays within his wider artistic practice, from the immediacy of line and gesture to the expressive potential of the materials he chooses, including charcoal, earth, mushroom ink and blood.
Monday 27 April 2026, 6.30 - 7.30 pm, National Gallery, London.
The event will also be streamed online.
