Artist talk: Antony Gormley and Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev
Following the exhibition Geestgrond, artist Antony Gormley joins curator Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev for a conversation. Together, they explore the ideas that underpin Gormley’s work: the body as a site of experience, our relationship with space and matter, and the way in which art invites us to look at ourselves and the world differently.
Taking the exhibition at the KMSKA as its starting point, an open conversation unfolds on perception, imagination and consciousness, as well as on the role of art in an era of constant change. This artist talk offers a unique opportunity to experience Gormley’s work through the artist’s own words, in dialogue with the curator, who places his oeuvre within a broader artistic, cultural and social context.
