Back to the Cave opens at Clearwell Caves
Sculpture goes underground at the caves for the second time with this exhibition of modern and contemporary sculpture, curated by Rungwe Kingdon and Claude Koenig. Taking its theme of colour from the ochre mined at the caves since Neolithic times, it will feature works by 60 British and international modern and contemporary artists, including Antony Gormley.
Visitors to the exhibition will follow a planned route – 550 metres long and up to 100ft below ground – where they will encounter sculptures, including several new site-specific works, and have a chance to explore the mine.
The exhibition is organised in collaboration with Gallery Pangolin.
