Ground, published by Museum SAN
Ground is published to document architect Tadao Ando and artist Antony Gormley’s collaboration at Museum SAN, South Korea.
Opened in June 2025, Ground was designed as a cave facing northeast towards Wonju’s mountains. Seven of Gormley’s ‘Blockwork’ sculptures inhabit the cave. This subterranean space, embedded beneath the museum’s flower garden, explores the relationship between nature and the human condition – an interest central to both Ando and Gormley’s work.
The book features extensive installation photography of the new permanent structure and sculptures, as well as a conversation between Ando and Gormley and a newly commissioned essay by philosopher Michael Marder.
