Shelf II permanently installed at Taikoo Place
Antony Gormley’s sculpture, Shelf II, has been installed as a new, permanent addition to the public art collection ‘Artwalk’ at Taikoo Place, Hong Kong.
Shelf II evokes a curious, searching body, one that is thoughtful, quizzical and contemplative. Located adjacent to Taikoo Square, an expansive green open space surrounded by high-rise towers, Gormley’s sculpture comments on the busy daily lives of those who inhabit the urban city; still and silent, the work allows passersby to reflect on their own position within this environment. Over time, Shelf II will show signs of oxidisation as it reacts with the elements, rusting and becoming part of Hong Kong’s ever-changing, transforming landscape.
